Angelo Carusi, AIA, LEED AP has been a part of the Cooper Carry team for 26 years, focusing on retail design since 1989. Leading the firm's Retail Studio, Angelo has directed the design of retail dominant mixed-use centers, shopping centers, department stores, urban retail centers, restaurants and individual tenant spaces in excess of 10 million square feet of GLA. He specializes in assisting clients in the evaluation, relocation, renovation and strategic allocation of retail uses for new and existing centers. Many of Angelo's projects have been honored: both the Fusebox Restaurant in Atlanta and the Coastland Center Mall in Naples, Florida received the Superior Achievement in Design and Imaging Award from SADI; Burdines Department Stores in Aventura and Orlando, Florida were named Chain Store Age Magazine's Retail Store of the Year.
Angelo is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the International Council of Shopping Centers (where he is a faculty member in the ICSC University School of Mixed-Use Development) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Carusi has written on the practical and philosophical issues of retail and environmental graphic design for publications including Retail Construction, Retail Traffic and for textbooks. Angelo holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee.
