The Student Activities Center at Clayton State University consists of the construction of a 65,000 square foot recreation and student union facility. Program elements include two basketball courts, aerobic spaces, fitness spaces, a ballroom, offices, cafe, and student lounge/game room. The intention of the project is to create a student athletic district for the campus, while providing opportunities to exercise and participate in intramural sports. The Clayton State Student Activity Center integrates the natural woodlands of the campus with interior spaces to create an open, dynamic experience. The orientation of the building was determined by the site, to set the gymnasium area and transparent skin adjacent to the trees and create a green space to the south for various student activities.
