Halstead Tower

Alexandria, VA

The burgeoning crossroads of King Street and Interstate 395 has given rise to Halstead Tower, a 16-story, 173-unit luxury condominium in Alexandria. The project was completed in February 2007 for a total construction cost of $45 million. The urban tower was designed on a previously executed master plan that held primarily office and hotel, and Halstead Tower took the place of the hotel component, sitting above 322 spaces of structured parking. Because views to the west were blocked by existing high-rise office buildings, architects configured the tower so that most units faced east with unobstructed views to the Potomac River and Washington, D.C. The design team moved the clubhouse and amenity package to the roof and incorporated it into one- and two-story penthouse units, all looking towards downtown D.C. The 15th-floor amenity level holds an outdoor pool and hot tub with panoramic views of downtown D.C. Inside, a wine and coffee bar, golf simulator, billiards room and fitness center sit adjacent to an entertainment lounge, business center/library, and a poker room.
