A Tribute to Stan Williams

Cooper Carry grieves the loss of our friend and colleague Stan Williams. Stan passed away Monday September 11, 2017 in a Hurricane Irma related accident as a tree fell into his home.

An Associate Principal at Cooper Carry, Stan practiced architecture with the firm for the past 33 years. Stan received his undergraduate and Masters of Architecture degrees from the University of Florida, graduating in 1984. He spent essentially his entire career with Cooper Carry working primarily in the Atlanta office.

Recognized and respected for his thoughtful and disciplined design work, Stan worked with and guided many of Cooper Carry’s most important clients working to design and construct buildings for a wide range of clients in the fields of technology, banking, pharmaceuticals, insurance and real estate development. His talent for implementing each client’s specific program requirements into buildings both handsomely realized and technically sound will remain as his gift to the architecture profession.

In his more than three decades at Cooper Carry, Stan guided and taught many design professionals and young architects. Always open to new ideas and technology, Stan sought to bring to each assignment design and technical excellence. His friends and colleagues will remember his measured studio manner, his careful management of client objectives and clever humor on subjects of food, formula one racing and Cuban cigars.

Following are a sampling of projects Stan designed and guided. For this legacy of work Cooper Carry will be always grateful. Thank you Stan Williams.
