The makeover of Crystal City was not merely a facelift, but a major repositioning and transforming of a once insular office and residential district into a vibrant true mixed-use neighborhood, bustling with life and color. Cooper Carry’s master planning recommendations and environmental graphics program were a major breath of life into this once stark neighborhood. By implementing two-way streets, widening pedestrian sidewalks, and changing the building identification paradigm to well positioned, cleanly marked address numbers and street names, Cooper Carry has simplified the way that Crystal City is navigated and experienced. Our scope included master planning, a comprehensive exterior wayfinding system, as well as a corresponding wayfinding system for the interior shops and underground pedestrian concourses.
