Park Center 2 & 3
Cooper Carry is the architect for a new master plan and design for Park Center, a regional mixed-use campus in Dunwoody, Georgia. State Farm is the major tenant. Phase One consists of an office building and parking structure with a direct connection to the Dunwoody MARTA station. Phase 2 will have two additional buildings. Amenities include a fitness center and street level restaurant/retail to support both the user and surrounding community, resulting in a new and vibrant live, work, play community.
The design of State Farm’s Park Center Dunwoody campus will become a place of live, work and play as a ‘community’ within the surrounding Dunwoody ‘community’.
To achieve the proper community scale and integration the design is based on a simple ‘ four square’ diagram separated by a ‘gasket’ detail as an expression of the State Farm workplace organization within. Roof terraces, balconies and street level parks are integrated as alternative work places. A subtle ‘fold’ in plan further breaks the large scale by both aligning with the street geometry and creating a new street entry to the transit station.
The simple muscular building skin of reflective glass and bold verticals offers a memorable skyline form, that changes with the movement of the sun, and into the evening when the ‘gasket’ illuminates to keep the ‘four square’ of the façade intact.
The project is pursuing LEED Silver Certification. The first building in this project, Park Center 2, opened in June 2020.
