Client
University of Georgia

While the University of Georgia’s Central Precinct is completely integrated within the existing fabric of the campus and embraces the built environment, its order provides an atmosphere of distinctiveness. Design elements both large and small offer people a sense of place. The four spaces within the precinct highlight life in Georgia and the surrounding community, and they reflect the heritage of the University.

The 15.2 acre Central Precinct master planned by Cooper Carry serves to interlace the past, present, and future. Located in the center of campus, the multi-level Tate Plaza connects the Tate Student Center, future Alumni Center, and the existing Zell B. Miller Learning Center. The Central Precinct connects multiple pathways and destinations to its surroundings, and caters to the activities of the campus community; including game day functions, sidewalk fairs and class reunions. Muses Garden, located within The Central Precinct, centers around integrating landscape with hardscape in the form of raised planters, lawn panels and paving bands; creating spaces for both intimate conversations and reflection for study.
