Ben Gholson AIA

As a Director of Design and Associate Principal at Cooper Carry, Ben approaches design as an act of discovery—an iterative process through which ideas, context, and human experience are translated into meaningful places. Working across disciplines and in close collaboration with clients, he creates the conditions for diverse perspectives to converge around a clear and resonant vision.

Ben brings experience across a broad spectrum of project types and scales, from large-scale hotels and resorts to intimate boutique luxury properties, as well as multifamily residential, office, mixed-use, and master-planning initiatives. This range informs an approach that considers each project not as an isolated object, but as part of a larger social, spatial, and cultural continuum.

Guiding projects from their earliest conceptual gestures through design, documentation, and realization, Ben preserves the integrity of the central idea while allowing it to evolve in response to program, material, craft, and circumstance. Grounded in curiosity, creativity, and a solutions-based mindset, he seeks opportunities within constraints—shaping distinctive environments that are evocative, enduring, and deeply connected to place.

Ben earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas.  He is a registered architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Outside the studio, Ben can usually be found exploring the outdoors, hiking a new trail, or seeking out a fresh perspective from somewhere with a little more elevation. These experiences continually renew his curiosity and reinforce his appreciation for landscape, place, and the power of the journey.
