Jim Babinchak leads the Charlotte office of 505Design at Cooper Carry. As an architect, Jim has over 30 years of experience designing narrative-driven projects ,focusing on immersive branded experiences found within everyday life. Jim skillfully leads multi-disciplinary design teams that provide innovative and culturally centered solutions for clients with a diverse portfolio of mixed-use communities, multifamily residential, retail, sports, and entertainment projects nationally and abroad.  Jim’s broad design background in architecture, placemaking, planning, and environmental graphics allows for a uniquely holistic design approach to his projects.

Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Science in Design from Clemson University. Jim is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB). He has volunteered as a Board member with the Foundation for Fort Mill Schools as well as an assistant volunteer coach with the First Tee of Greater Charlotte. In his free time, Jim bikes the best “rails-to-trails” around the country with his family. He has also re-discovered his passion for landscape drawing through participating in plein-air painting artist competitions throughout the Southeast.
