Morgan-Bailey Hall at Berry College

Mount Berry, GA

Completed in 2025, Morgan-Bailey Hall serves Berry College’s health sciences programs, including nursing, kinesiology, and physician associates. Cooper Carry collaborated with Berry College to assess site selection and develop creative solutions to incorporate student housing, creating a live-and-learn facility for health science students. The first two floors are dedicated to academic functions, linked by a prominent communicating stair that promotes visibility and interaction between levels. The top floor is dedicated to student housing to address a critical need for the growing programs.

Comprehensive Immersive Learning Environment

Flexible, multipurpose skills labs allow students to transition effortlessly between lecture-based learning and hands-on practice, supporting a holistic, experiential approach to health sciences education. Students experience immersive learning in high-fidelity simulation suites, skills labs, a physical assessment lab, mock operating and exam rooms, technology-enabled active learning (TEAL) classrooms, collaborative spaces, and private discussion rooms.

Crafted Warmth, Outdoor Connection

Designed with function and community in mind, the building wraps around a central courtyard, anchored by a warm, heavy-timber porch whose roofline seamlessly extends into the building. Expansive windows enhance the interplay between the indoors and Berry’s enviable natural surroundings. This design and the materials invite the landscape to serve as a focal point, subtly enriching the building’s refined, tranquil palette and blurring the boundary between the outside and interior spaces.

Community-Centric Design

Shared lounge areas offer comfortable spaces where students can relax, recharge, or collaborate during breaks. Student housing on the third floor provides shared rooms and restrooms, as well as a community kitchen and breakout lounge spaces to reinforce camaraderie and connection. These design elements work together to support Berry College’s mission of promoting integrated learning and community-focused education.
