Situated between the West Midtown and Buckhead neighborhoods, the Howell introduces a refined industrial aesthetic to this dynamic Atlanta corridor. Designed by Cooper Carry, this seven-story residential building features a cascading form that harmonizes with the site's natural topography. This design choice disrupts conventional block massing, lending the project a unique architectural identity. Oversized windows and deep balconies enhance the influx of natural light and air, fostering a connection to the outdoors, key elements for a project centered on health and well-being.
The Howell’s exterior has a clean white facade highlighted by deep window recesses and contemporary balconies. Natural light floods each apartment through large windows, complemented by generous ceiling heights—nine feet in standard units and up to twelve feet on the top floor. The penthouse units offer expansive skyline views, providing a true sense of place within Atlanta’s urban landscape.
The amenities at The Howell are thoughtfully designed for both connection and convenience. The building features:
Additionally, the community features 4,000 square feet of street-level retail, which activates Howell Mill Road and fosters interaction between residents and the surrounding neighborhood.
Situated on a 2.68-acre sloped site, the design team overcame the challenges posed by the terrain by stepping the building down the hill. This approach maximized usable space and enhanced visual appeal while also ensuring seamless access for emergency and service vehicles. Constructed as a Type III over a Type I concrete podium, the Howell features four levels of parking, two above ground and two below-grade, with 294 spaces, striking a balance between density, functionality, and visual coherence.
