Nestled along the banks of Lake Hartwell, The James F. Martin Inn offers sweeping views of the lake and Clemson University's 18-hole championship golf course. The first phase of the boutique hotel renovation, a model guestroom, was completed in March 2025. The full renovation will encompass the lobby, reception area, and 89 guestrooms across four floors, including queen/queen and king guestrooms, king and queen/queen suites, and a hospitality suite.

The design intertwines natural elements with refined elegance, welcoming guests with a warm sense of nostalgia reminiscent of returning to Clemson after a long summer away. Warm umber tones set the backdrop, illuminating the university’s colors while capturing golden hour on Lake Hartwell. Bespoke furnishings, curated artisanal details, eclectic styling, and layered textures create a comfortable residential feeling throughout the guestrooms and suites.

Clemson mementos are thoughtfully sprinkled throughout the interiors, celebrating the university’s history, natural setting, and enduring sense of community. A curated gallery wall showcases artwork inspired by Clemson’s beauty and traditions, including a botanical print of the state flower and historic room keys that pay homage to the Martin Inn’s many generations of hospitality. Together, these meaningful details create a distinctive home away from home for alums, families, and first-time visitors alike.
