Oglethorpe University, I.W. “Ike” Cousins Center for Science and Innovation

Atlanta, GA

Cooper Carry provided full design services to renovate and expand Goslin Hall, which was transformed into the new Center for Science & Innovation. The multi-use facility supports the university’s science and business programs and various industry partnership programs. The result is a unique campus hub for learning, research, collaboration, relaxation, and events that encourage innovation and design thinking.

The renovation includes new science laboratories and classrooms as well as faculty offices and spaces for interactive study across disciplines. The laboratories are designed to be flexible and offer both research and academic capabilities to meet the needs of the campus. The center also provides spaces for student study, collaboration areas, and community events. The project incorporated sustainability features such as natural light to reduce energy use, enhanced building systems, and connection to nature.

Since the project was completed in the summer of 2019, the building has gained traction as a signature building that reflects the university’s history and culture while demonstrating the fiscal stewardship that personifies the university.
