Capitol View is a large mixed-use development that creates a place authentic to Nashville, encouraging people to live, work, and play all within walking distance. Cooper Carry developed a 32-acre master plan aimed at creating active, lively public spaces that foster a walkable, engaging pedestrian experience. The right balance of office, retail, residential, hotel, entertainment, open space, and parking achieves a 24/7 environment. The master plan also incorporates Nashville’s greenways and bicycle trails, promoting a diverse range of transit options.
Cooper Carry also developed design guidelines for the entire development, provided full architecture and interior design services for two blocks of the development, and provided site-wide wayfinding and signage design services. The architectural design of the buildings acknowledges the site's history. The Bruton Snuff and Marathon Motor Works buildings, located to the north of Capitol View, are brick-clad mill structures of historical importance. To honor these historic buildings, we used brick and metal to clad the new structures and placemaking elements such as embedded train rails in the triangular park.
The project was named NAIOP Nashville's 2017 Development of the Year.
