Gateway Port Chester

Port Chester, New York

Cooper Carry was selected by M&J Wilkow and MetLife to reposition a successful regional shopping center in the Town of Port Chester, New York in order to maintain the center’s relevance in the continuously competitive suburban retail market.  In order to entice shoppers to increase their frequency visiting the center and their time spent on property, the design team evaluated the reorganization of the existing tenancies to create new community spaces and new curated districts that will be anchored by restaurants and entertainment venues that will help animate the property during the day and into the evening.

Our Branding Team worked to create a new identity for the property. As the portal into the New York City metro, Gateway Port Chester acts as a shopping destination in the NYC suburbs. Drawing from its name, the team took an arch, the traditional shape of a gateway, and reworked in a clean, modern aesthetic using negative space. The impression of a gateway arch is punched into the logo box. The brand was rounded out with a custom typeface and a modern palette of bold brand colors.
