Santana Row is a 38-acre private mixed-use development master planned by Cooper Carry as a commercial center and public gathering space reminiscent of European promenades such as Las Rambles in Barcelona and Plaza Mayor in Madrid. The promenade is nearly 450 feet long by 130 feet wide and contains 18 fountains and more than 100 sycamore trees to provide a filtered light canopy.

The Santana Row Promenade is flanked by one-story retail at the base and three stories of residential units above. Large restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating overlook the promenade. The project totals approximately 2.5 million square feet including 650,000 square feet of commercial space at two anchor retail stores, a multi-plex movie theatre, two 100-room hotels and 1,200 residential units supported by ample parking decks with approximately 4,525 parking spaces.

The street’s European atmosphere was achieved by employing a variety of architectural designs for the structures as well as sophisticated landscaping details. These details focused on the use of mature trees, shaded grassy plazas, courtyards, and fountains, intimate public seating areas, extra wide sidewalks and street medians, and multi-use destinations such as Park Valencia, which hosts live music, a farmers market, and other public gatherings.
