1587 Prime Kansas City Steakhouse

Kansas City, MO

A Contemporary Steakhouse for Kansas City

1587 Prime is a contemporary American steakhouse designed by The Johnson Studio at Cooper Carry in partnership with Noble 33. Located on the ground floor of the Loews Kansas City Hotel, the restaurant blends sophisticated design with elements inspired by football culture, honoring co-owners and NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, and capturing the vibrant spirit of Kansas City.

The Tunnel Entrance: A Dramatic First Impression

Guests arrive through a narrowing tunnel, evoking the anticipation of players entering a stadium. At its end, a striking refrigerated meat display becomes the “light at the end of the tunnel.” Beyond, the restaurant opens into a space of warm lighting, bold finishes, and lively energy—as if stepping onto the field under stadium lights.

Immersive Design Inspired by Gameday

Subtle references to the game are woven throughout. Brass inlays in the floor echo yard markers, while banquette upholstery reflects the grid of the football field. Chiefs-inspired red, white, and gold anchor the palette, showcasing Kansas City pride while maintaining a refined balance.

Dining Spaces with Energy and Elegance

Dominating the center of the ground floor is a sweeping 20-seat bar and live music stage. The bar front and surrounding TV wall feature millwork patterned with deconstructed football shapes, while the sculptural overbar structure evokes the curve of a football and incorporates textured glass reminiscent of leather. Together, these details create a setting that feels both energetic and elevated.

Elevated Experiences Upstairs

A dramatic staircase leads to the second floor, where semi-private and private dining rooms provide intimate gathering spaces, complemented by a main dining room featuring an exhibition kitchen. Ambient lighting and tile inlays take cues from X’s and O’s playbook diagrams, while the “flag on the play” chandelier captures the motion of a penalty flag tossed mid-air.

A Celebration of Kansas City Pride

With seating for 238, 1587 Prime is both a modern steakhouse and a celebration of Kansas City. Every design decision, from the tunnel entrance to the smallest material detail, is infused with the culture, colors, and spirit of the Chiefs, transforming dining into an immersive and unforgettable experience.
